The primary purpose of this position is to provide passenger travel services, and entitlements counseling to personnel seeking travel through the passenger terminal to Continental United States (CONUS) and overseas locations.

Duties

Perform a full range of passenger transportation duty services. Determine passengers travel eligibility and ensure adherence to mandatory authorities. Perform personnel and baggage screening services. Enforce specialized entrance controls for the building, facility, or gate area. Provide information related to passenger movement. Review and monitor flight/shift personnel actions to ensure accuracy and compliance with procedures and regulations. Perform Special Category/Unique Passenger Processing Procedures. Coordinate with installation Protocol Office to ensure proper entitlements, and honors are supported when required for passenger movement and air transportation eligibility.

  • Work required to assist with handling passenger baggage as directed by flight supervision
  • Work required tact and diplomacy in dealing with a variety of travelers and traveler issues
  • This is a Key position IAWW AFI 36-507. Duties of this position are essential to the accomplishment or wartime/contingency operations. Incumbent must be removed from their military recall status
  • Work may require above average physical agility, such as regular and recurring periods of prolonged standing, bending, stretching, and lifting while working at passenger service counter.
  • Work may required to coordinate passenger movement on/off of aircraft/ground transportation where there is exposure to loud noises or adverse weather conditions.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Group standard for Clerical and Administrative Support Positions. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-05, or equivalent in other pay systems. Specialized experience is experience which may have been gained while assisting performing transportation entitlements and documentation requirements for foreign and domestic personal property movements and passenger travel for personnel; managing passenger travel, protocol and procedures as required to arrange commercial or contracted domestic and foreign travel; and performing functions such as receive and correct travel information conflict. OR EDUCATION: Successful completion of one full year of graduate education in a field related to the position being filled. NOTE: YOU MUST SUBMIT COPIES OF YOUR TRANSCRIPTS. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100 percent. To combine education and experience, determine the total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level. Then determine the education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level. Finally, add the two percentages. Knowledge of transportation entitlements and documentation requirements for foreign and domestic relocation travel for personnel and their dependents Knowledge of passenger service center protocols and procedures and of a variety of types of passenger travel to arrange commercial or contracted domestic and foreign travel. Skill in retrieval of a variety of passenger travel data regarding recurring travel-related problems. Ability to properly prepare documents in accordance with established policies PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
