Duties

Accesses a variety of documents including invoices, receiving reports and procurement documents for payments to government vendors. Performs final audit of invoices and vouchers related to contracts. Examines and analyzes contracts, modifications, and change orders for propriety, legal and adequacy of contract. Determines and applies proper coding to a variety of obligations and accrued expenditures and disbursing transactions, ranging from simple to complex. Reports to the supervisor on team and individual work accomplishments, problems, and progress in mastering tasks and work processes. Provides individual and team training in specific tasks and job techniques, and provides on-the-job training in accordance with established procedures and practices.

Qualifications

One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-5) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. Specialized experience is defined as validating, monitoring, and maintaining accounting transactions and accounting records; entering accounting data into an automated financial system to process a wide variety of account transactions; identifying and researching discrepancies in account transactions and making adjustments; reconciling subsidiary ledgers to general ledgers for accounts; and researching discrepancies and making adjustments. Time-in-Grade: Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time in grade requirement. Applicant must have served 52 weeks as a GS-5 or higher grade in Federal Service. You may qualify for consideration if meeting time-in grade, specialized experience, education requirement, 90 days after competitive appointment requirement, and all other qualification requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the announcement, unless otherwise indicated on the announcement.

Education

GS-06 Substitution of Education for Experience: Six months of graduate education may be substituted to meet the specialized experience required when it is directly related to the work of the position being filled. If you are using education to substitute for the specialized experience, you must submit transcripts at the time you apply.
