The primary purpose of this position is to: Promote healthy lifestyles in Airmen and the civilian employee population. The Health Promotion Coordinator is the principal action officer to the 70th Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Wing to promote positive health outcomes among Airmen in support of Comprehensive Airman Fitness.

Duties
DUTY 1: Conducts community outreach in support of population health. Applies the social-ecologic model of health behavior change to implement policy, systems, and environmental approaches that support healthy living.
DUTY 2: Implements and evaluates health communication interventions that promote healthy behaviors. Serves as 70th ISRW subject matter expert in effectively implementing health communication interventions.
DUTY 3: Integrates and implements community outreach and prevention programs. Regularly presents population health metrics to the Wing Surgeon and/or the Wing Commander and/or Vice Commander with focus on tobacco, nutrition, physical activity, and obesity.
DUTY 4: Builds 70th ISRW capacity to effectively deliver clinical interventions that address health behavior. Advises the Wing Surgeon and staff on clinical strategies to systematically, effectively, and efficiently address health risk behaviors, including; but not limited to, tobacco use, poor nutrition, and lack of physical activity.

- All new DCIPS employees are required to complete a two-year DCIPS trial period.
- Position is designated special-sensitive, incumbent must be able to obtain and retain a Top Secret (TS) security clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI). A non-disclosure agreement must be signed.

- This position has been designated as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Testing Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing.
- Required to complete Air Force Health Promotion Orientation Workshop, and obtain/maintain current CHES, CPH, or CWWS certification within 12 months of appointment

- Must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Health Education, Health Promotion, Public Health, Community Development, or related field. A Master’s degree in these concentrations is highly desired.
- Must possess Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate.
- Work is essentially sedentary with some walking, standing, bending, and carrying of light items. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
- Minimum of three years of work experience in promoting healthy populations in a military, public health, or workplace setting is highly desirable.
- NSA Access: The employee must meet NSA personnel security requirements outlined in NSA/CSS Policy 5-1 for access to NSA sites and systems.
- Counterintelligence-Scope Polygraph: The employee must be willing to undergo and successfully complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph (CSP) examination.

BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT:
Education
Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education(external link) at the time the degree was obtained.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Your resume must reflect the quality level of experience which demonstrates the possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for successful job performance required for this position. Examples of creditable experience include: Meeting the basic education requirements for the GG-0601-11 (I have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Health Education, Health Promotion, Public Health, Community Health, or related field) and quality level of experience includes professional knowledge of a broad range of health care principles, practices, and procedures and specialized training in order to plan, organize, direct, and evaluate a comprehensive health promotion program for health, physical fitness, and wellness; interpret and adapt general health, safety, and medical requirements in administering the health promotion program; knowledge to plan, administer, and evaluate a variety of health, fitness, and wellness education classes; ability to advise, counsel, and make recommendations to management officials concerning medical, health, and administrative aspects of the health promotion program. EDUCATION:
3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of health education, including the social-ecologic model of health behavior change; social marketing; motivational interviewing; and program assessment and evaluation.
2. Knowledge of Health Promotion Program planning including policy, systems, and environmental approaches to apply principles of prevention.
3. Knowledge of epidemiologic principles; to systematically assess and address health promotion needs for the installation.
4. Skill to effectively plan, implement, and evaluate effective health promotion programs and complex projects appropriate for the target population; mentors and motivates individuals and groups.
5. Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing to influence stakeholders to support and take actions that promote healthy living as the choice of preference and social norm.
6. Ability to effectively train health care providers and patients in health promotion topics; facilitate small group learning, discussion, and decision making using adult learner principles and nominal group technique.

Current certification in one of the following is highly desirable at the time of appointment: A) Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) by the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing (NCHEC); B) Certified in Public Health (CPH) by the National Board of Public Health Examiners; or C) Certified Worksite Wellness Specialist (CWWS) by the National Wellness Institute.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
