About the Position: Performs a variety of administrative, clerical, personnel, procurement, budget, and office automation work. Management may select at either the GS-05 or the GS-06 grade level. Full performance is at the GS-06 grade.

Duties

Provides administrative support preparing reports and other documents utilizing various software and automated information systems to electronically retrieve, create, review, format, transmit, finalize, print and save documents and reports. Assists in coordinating information and compiles for specific reports such as awards, budget execution, program management, quality management, training status and wide variety of routine tracking, analysis and reporting products. Independently performs various general clerical duties in support of the organization's operation. Receives and answers routine telephone inquiries or refers to the appropriate staff. Assists with planning, preparing and supporting meetings and conferences. Prepares travel documents for TDY, PCS, and invitational travel orders. Researches travel modes and accommodations, performs cost analysis and recommends most efficient method of travel, makes appropriate arrangements. Coordinates travel arrangements and resolves discrepancies involving travel method, leave while on travel, overtime and reimbursement errors. Creates, processes and ensures statutory compliance for travel vouchers in accordance with the most current version of the Joint Travel Regulation.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. To qualify at the GS-05 grade level, you must have: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal Service which includes procedural and administrative work in an office environment such as preparing correspondence, maintaining files, making travel arrangements, maintaining inventory records, and timekeeping. OR Education: Four year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with related course work in business, secretarial, or technical college, junior college, college or university (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts). OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education by 60. Add the two percentages. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts). To qualify at the GS-06 grade level, you must have: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes procedural and administrative work in an office environment such as preparing correspondence, maintaining files and records, making travel arrangements, maintaining inventory records for hand receipts to account for property, making credit card purchases, gathering budgetary data, preparing and monitoring labor and fund requests, and using automated personnel and timekeeping databases. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Customer Service (Clerical/Technical)Reasoning (Clerical/Technical)Teamwork

Education

Some positions in the federal service allow applicants to substitute education for experience. For this job series, you may substitute education for experience to qualify at the GS-05 grade level. You must qualify based on experience alone for the GS-06 grade level -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted for the GS-06 grade level.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
