The Dayton Ohio VA Medical Center Social Work Service is recruiting for a well-qualified Social Worker (Program Coordinator), in the Workplace Violence Prevention Program (WVPP), in concurrence with national guidelines set forth by the national WVPP under the Department of Veterans Affairs Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Directive 7700. The WVPP includes the Disruptive Behavior Committee, Employee Threat Assessment Team, and Prevention and Management of Disruptive Behavior program.
Duties
The Workplace Violence Prevention Program Coordinator manages the administrative and clinical aspects of the WVPP at the Dayton VA Medical Center, and oversees a diverse range of responsibilities involving program development, support, training, data tracking, and maintenance of all training requirements for staff and trainers, as well as assists other WVPP Programs.
The WVPP Coordinator should have a minimum of two years of previous experience providing direct care to suicidal/ homicidal/ violent and/or mental health patients and previous experience providing patient and staff education.
The WVPP Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of all aspects of the WVPP for Dayton VA Medical Center, including specialty team functions.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Chair/Co-Chair the Disruptive Behavior Committee
Chair/ Co-Chair the Employee Threat Assessment Team
Workplace Behavior Risk Assessment coordination
Disruptive Behavior Reporting System Point of Contact
Promotes reporting of disruptive behaviors; prevention education coordination.
Completing documentation requirements needed for WVPP
Data entry and management requirements of the WVPP
Attending all appropriate staff meetings and activities needed by WVPP
Monitoring patterns of resource availability, identifying unmet needs, and communicate as necessary to appropriate stakeholders
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 0800 to 1630

Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
Citizenship. Be a citizen of the United States.
Education. Have a master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the School of Social Work is fully accredited. A doctoral degree in social work may not be substituted for the master's degree in social work. Verification of the degree can be made by going to http://www.cswe.org/Accreditation to verify that the social work degree meets the accreditation standards for a masters of social work.
Licensure. Persons hired or reassigned to social worker positions in the GS-0185 series in VHA must be licensed or certified by a state to independently practice social work at the master's degree level. Current state requirements may be found by going to http://vaww.va.gov/OHRM/T38Hybrid/.
English Language Proficiency. Candidates must be proficient in spoken and written English to be appointed as authorized by 38 U.S.C. § 7403(f).
Grade Determinations:
Experience and Education. One year of experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level. Experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills and judgment, demonstrating progressively more professional competency. Candidate may have certification or other post-master's degree training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship, or equivalent supervised professional experience.
Licensure/Certification. Individuals assigned as social worker program coordinator must be licensed or certified at the advanced practice level, and must be able to provide supervision for licensure.
Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
(a) Knowledge of program coordination and administration which includes consultation, negotiation, and monitoring.
(b) Knowledge and ability to write policies, procedures, and/or practice guidelines for the program.
(c) Ability to supervise multidisciplinary staff assigned to the program.
(d) Skill in organizing work, setting priorities, meeting multiple deadlines, and evaluating assigned program area(s).
(e) Ability to provide training, orientation, and guidance within clinical practice.

The full performance level of this vacancy is GS-11. The actual grade at which an applicant may be selected for this vacancy is GS-12
Physical Requirements: The physical demands of the position involve standard office requirements such as using the telephone, retrieving files, writing reports, data entry, and maintenance of computer databases, etc. Work is typically performed sitting at a desk and using a computer. This position may require occasional travel. The position requires periods of walking, standing, sitting, and bending.
