Duties
Responsible for planning, managing and maintaining stables. Plans and supervises recreational programs that includes special events, horse shows, camps, lessons programs and trail rides.. Applies knowledge of the rules and regulations applicable to the conduct of a horse events and shows, lesson programs and the duties of steward for both English and Western styles. Steward of lessons, clinics, working with the MCCS horses, working with current and potential clients, and working with boarders at the facility. Provides for riding instruction and boarding of private mounts for authorized patrons. Maintains up-to-date records of property, funds and stable mounts to include the care, feeding and utilization of mounts owned or boarded. Responsible for ensuring facilities, pastures, fenced corrals, barns, riding trails, riding areas, picnic areas, equipment and machinery are maintained safely and efficiently. Supervises all herd management and the daily inspections of the animals, and determines if veterinary treatment is required. Establishes schedules of events; applying rules and regulations in supervising assigned youth participants in outdoor activities; Provides oversight of activities and necessary services to authorized patrons, including general information on the use of equipment. Provides information concerning facilities and operation.

Qualifications
Three years of experience in planning, managing, and maintaining an outdoor recreational program, or may substitute experience with a bachelor¿s degree in a related field. Supervisory experience required. Knowledge of a variety of heavy equipment and machinery to include water truck, tractors, mowers and gators.. Knowledge of business/financial and facility management required. Lessons, clinics and trail ride experience preferred. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and to deal with all classes of people. National and state background checks are required for positions that involve working with youths. Flexible schedule with weekend and holiday availability required. This is a mixed position where the incumbent must be able to lift and carry objects up to 45lbs independently and objects over 45lbs with assistance.
