This position is located at Sheridan VA Healthcare System in Sheridan, WY. This position provides general clerical duties and support in the day-to-day operations of the Sheridan VA facility.

Duties

***THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION*** Duties include, but are not limited to, the following: Answers telephone calls; Operates the facility switchboard; Operates two-way radios; Operates the paging system; Operates agency telephone system/switchboard to receive and connect incoming and outgoing calls; Interviews incoming callers to determine the proper routing of the call; Provides service in an alert, courteous and efficient manner; Operates two-way radios and page in response to emergency requests or testing procedures; Performs an important role in station emergency and disaster procedures; Uses situational awareness to respond to the responsibilities; Releases authorized information and directions verbally to callers as regulated by FOIA and Privacy Act; Determines the nature and purpose of the inquiries; Gives accurate information and clear directions to the area of interest; Performs other duties as assigned Work Schedule: Monday-Friday; 8:00am-4:30pm Recruitment & Relocation Incentives: Not authorized Critical Skills Incentive (CSI): Not approved Financial Disclosure Report: Not Required

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must meet one of the following: Experience: You must have least one (1) year of progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates my ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled. Experience includes working in an administrative position and receiving telephone calls; obtaining the necessary information to direct calls appropriately; communicating effectively with others; using a computer to provide clerical support; and working efficiently under pressure of time and stressful conditions. NOTE: Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must clearly indicate the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. ~OR~ Education: Successfully completed two years of education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college, or university for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. NOTE: Transcripts (unofficial or official) must be submitted with your application materials. Education cannot be credited without documentation. ~OR~ Combination: Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education (beyond the first year) and experience, as described above, to meet total qualification requirements. Education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college, or university for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. The regular and recurring work of this position involves sitting at a desk, conferences, meetings, etc. normally sedentary with some standing, stooping, reaching and lifting up to 20 pounds.
