This position is location within Office of Intelligence and Counterintelligence (IN), Energy Security Division (ESD). The Energy Security Division (ESD) analyzes, produces, exploits, and disseminates intelligence on countries of interest as fossil and renewable energy sources or consumers, emerging energy technologies of national security interest, and climate-related topics, as well as other energy technologies and related materials and economic phenomena that may affect U.S. energy security.
Duties
This is an Excepted Service position. This appointment will not confer Competitive Service career-conditional or career tenure status. This means that if you are selected, you would have to compete with other applicants in open competition to meet requirements for another Federal position, unless you meet the requirements for reinstatement. Applicants who voluntarily convert from the competitive service, Senior Executive Service, or other pay systems to a non-time limited appointment under this excepted service authority are not afforded "fallback rights" to the pay system previously assigned prior to conversion.
At the full performance level GS-14, Supervisory Intelligence Research Specialist, you will:
As an Energy Security Division (ESD) Branch Chief, plan and direct analytic work and production of intelligence by analysts as well as activities at the national laboratories, including by identifying goals and setting team priorities.
Provide first level review and editorial direction on ESD analytic intelligence papers and applying a thorough understanding of intelligence tradecraft standards.
Provide authoritative knowledge of energy security issues to senior Intelligence Community and Department of Energy (DOE) policymakers.
Collaborate with staff members and external partners to mitigate information gaps.
Represent DOE on Intelligence Community committees and working groups concerned with energy security.
Assign tasks to staff members according to priorities, complexity of assignments and skill-sets and capabilities of employees.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.

- May be required to successfully complete a 1-year trial period.
- May be required to successfully complete a 1-year supervisory probationary period.
- Must obtain and maintain a current "Q" security clearance.
- Must obtain and maintain a Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) security clearance prior to entrance on duty.
- Must successfully complete an initial CI evaluation and on a recurring basis, which may include a CI-scope polygraph examination.
- This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to applicant testing and random drug testing.

Edit analytic intelligence products by applying tradecraft standards.
Recognize information gaps of security missions and collaborate with others to reduce the gaps and develop collection strategies.
Collaborate with internal and external partners to ensure effective information flow.
Deliver intelligence briefings to policymakers concerning national security issues.
