This position is located in Technical Services, Schuyler Otis Bland Memorial Library, Office of the Academic Dean and Provost, United States Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA), Maritime Administration (MARAD).

To qualify for the GS-06, you must have at least one year of equal or equivalent experience equal to the GS-05, which includes:
The candidate will be experienced with library technical services in the following areas:
Copy cataloging
Physical Processing of Books and other Tangible Resources
Basic Book Repair
Basic Preservation Techniques
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Technical Knowledge: Proficient with library technical procedure guides and library automated systems to manage tangible print serials, government documents, serial binds, and perform cataloging.
Program Knowledge: Provides recommendations, solutions, or reports for the organization of library information material to meet clientele information needs in the most effective and efficient manner.
Communication: The ability to communicate effectively with library clientele verbally and in writing.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
