You will serve as a SECRETARY (OA) in the Office of the Commanding Officer of NAVFAC NORTHWEST. NAVFAC is currently undergoing a reorganization and this position may be realigned to a new organizational structure within NAVFAC once finalized. The planned reorganization will not change the role of this position.

Duties

You will proofread documents for correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, clarity, procedural correctness, accuracy, completeness. You will exercise tact and diplomacy when handling visitors and calls. You will prepare all travel arrangements for official travel for the CO and XO. You will anticipate and coordinate logistical arrangements and details for official events requiring CO or XO presence. You will provide backup administrative assistance to the Military Admin Support Office.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position requires the ability to type at least 40 words per minute. Your response to the typing skill question on the Occupational Questionnaire will be used in your qualification determination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Receiving and directing inquiries with professionalism, tact, and diplomacy; 2) Exercising primary control over the calendars to include business engagements/meetings, conferences, travel, VIP visits, and/or personal travel; 3) Identifying reasons for calls/visits and directing to the appropriate person/department; 4) Preparing travel arrangements to include airline and hotel reservations and transportation requirements for official travel; 5) Receiving all incoming correspondence, reports, publications, instructions, etc. and performing preliminary review for proper format, grammar, spelling, and context; 6) Exhibiting proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (MS) software to include MS Word, Outlook, Excel, and Power Point. ***NOTE: This experience must be clearly and fully supported in your resume.*** Additional qualification information can be found from the following Office of Personnel Management website: https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/#url=List-by-Occupational-Series Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social).
