Duties
Types medical statements using acceptable correspondence format.
Analyze research and evaluate various medical documents.
Generates an invoice for the copying services for all records for which billing is permitted.
Be a point of contact for beneficiaries with civilian referrals for ancillary health care support.
Work with the Laboratory and Radiology areas to manage referrals of civilian requests, and must have knowledge of medical referral processing, and use of the Composite Health Care System software.
Maintain a log on all records requested from other facilities.
Coordinates with the appropriate providers to gather the pertinent information needed for the Medical Statement.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent to have tuberculosis testing.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Tier 1 security investigation or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- This position has mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level in the Federal service which includes utilizing health care software systems) to create and manipulate documents/spreadsheets; composing and processing correspondence for medical request; and retrieving medical information from Electronic Health Records Systems such as (MHS Genesis AHLTA, HAIMS, ESSENTRIS and CHCS). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
