You will serve as a Lead Regional Emergency Response Dispatcher (OA) in the Emergency Management Division of COMNAVREG MIDLANT NORFOLK.

Duties

You will analyze incoming information in fire, medical, police emergencies to determine course of action. You will use an automated system (e.g., Computer Aided Dispatch [CAD]) to input emergency and non-emergency response data for archive and immediate reference. You will screen incoming calls to determine whether the call is emergent or non-emergent in nature. You will relay essential situational information (e.g., characteristics of locations and routes, additional units responding) to emergency responders to prevent confusion and improve reaction time of responding units.

  • This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
  • This position requires rotating shift work.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-07 or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector: 1) Simultaneously receive, and process emergency and non-emergency requests by utilizing various communication equipment and systems; (e.g., telephone, mobile radio, mobile data computers or automatic alarms; 2) Coordinate emergency responses, prioritizing emergency/non-emergency calls and situations in accordance with inter-agency procedures and installation organizations; 3) Provide appropriate pre-arrival instructions; 4) Adjust workload and resources available in a widely dispersed environment, improving services rendered as incidents/emergencies occur; and 5) Determines response agency and services to be rendered by nature of emergency in accordance with established guidelines.
