Duties

Planning coordination and deployment of organization personnel and assets in conjunction with conducting death and scene investigations worldwide. Performing the ability to direct complex processes requiring application of advanced analytical methods and techniques. Planning notification procedures and coordination with upper echelons, on-site operating procedures, and coordinating activities with local, state and federal authorities when deploying on an organizational mission. Ensuring liaison functions between deployed operational components and the Chief Investigator to guarantee mission activities are supported and completed in a timely, thorough, and accurate fashion. Researching methodologies and apply statistical/financial analyses.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• The incumbent of this position has been designated as mission and emergency essential.
• This position may require the incumbent to work during irregular work hours which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or varying work schedules.
• This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
• American Board of Medicolegal Death Investigators registry or board certified is highly desired.
• The incumbent will be required to travel up to 30% of the time and must have an understanding and willingness to travel, with little notice to medicolegal investigation sites.

Basic Requirements for Medicolegal Investigator GS-1801-12: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes demonstrating knowledge of medicolegal investigations to support requirements for small- and large-scale investigations; maintaining tracking procedures for records such as identification and personal effects; and coordinating with multiple agencies for various support services (i.e., collection, storage, and shipping of tissue specimens for investigations). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
