This position is located with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Navajo Region in Gallup, New Mexico. The Social Work Program Specialist is responsible for planning, designing and carrying out the established program in social work practices.
NOTE: TRAVEL AND RELOCATION EXPENSES WILL NOT BE AUTHORIZED. ANY RELOCATION EXPENSES ASSOCIATED WITH REPORTING FOR DUTY WILL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE SELECTED EMPLOYEE.
Duties
Assist with providing regional level direction of Child and Adult Protection.
Provide direct services to supervised IIM account holders.
Conduct social service assessments and evaluations.
Serve as the Regional Subordinate Awarding Official's Technical Representative.
Prepare and Monitor distribution plans for compliance for payment and collection of receipts.

Individual Occupational Requirements
Basic Requirements
Degree: social work. Must fulfill all of the requirements for the master's degree in social work in a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
Master's degree with practicum: Applicants who complete all of the requirements for a master's degree in social work that included a practicum are eligible for GS-9.
GS-09: In addition to meet the basic qualification requirement, I have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-7 grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized Experience that includes applying professional knowledge of the principles and practices of social work; recommending direct services to individuals, families, and groups; educating or assisting with instruction, training, consultation or advice on social work-related Administration and Management Technical Competence Organizational Awareness questions and services; or 2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree or a combination of specialized experience and education
GS-11: In addition to meet the basic qualification requirement, I have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-9 grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized Experience that involves extensive knowledge in working with children, elderly and families with demonstrative leadership skills in planning, and development of protective services; educating staff on instruction, training, consultation or advice on social workrelated questions and services; makes independent decisions and recommendations for agency actions; provide consultation on technical and professional aspects of social services matters pertaining to Individual Indian Money (IIM) Accounts or 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree.
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of graduate level education and appropriate specialized experience that together meet the qualification requirements of this position.
Graduate Education: Graduate education must be related to the occupation and demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.
Specialized Experience: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and is typically in or related to the position to be filled.
The full performance level of this position is GS-11 .
