This position is a Postdoctoral Scientist and is responsible for ensuring the highest level of quality assurance and control for clinical research and should have specific knowledge in animal research. This position offers experience only, there is no compensation for the selected candidate.
Duties
Coordinate and assume responsibility for all aspects of animal surgery and pre / post- operative care.
Work with veterinary staff to maintain standard operating procedures and guidelines.
ensure compliance with state, federal, and institutional laws, regulations, and policies pertaining to animal research.
serve as emergency contact for animal care off hours.
Collect data from animals (e.g., in vivo, in situ, ex vivo, in vitro), manage and coordinate day-to-day lab activities, including (1) general upkeep of the lab (cleaning, inventory, stocking supplies, discarding expired products, securing controlled substances); (2) collecting biological samples; (3) necropsy procedures; (4) training/guiding students/staff; and (5) sequestering, collating and maintaining records and databases of experimental methods, products, and findings from students/staff and sharing these with the PI in weekly meetings.
Present research results orally and in writing through conference and journal articles and prepare and submit progress reports to the PI and stakeholders on a routine basis (e.g., weekly) and any other assignments that the principal investigator may request.
Assess the quality and usefulness of current biomedical and clinical training activities and materials.
Collaborate to develop and implement operating procedures and policies in support of the recruitment and selection of biomedical students including postdoc, graduate, postbac, and high school students.
Provide assistance in the development, implementation, and evaluation of biomedical academic performance measures.

Qualifications
To qualify for this With Out Compensation (WOC) position, you must meet the following qualification requirements:
In addition to meeting the basic qualifications, you must demonstrate one year of qualifying specialized experience in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: Planning and conducting scientific and health research project and program analysis and evaluation; maintaining databases used in scientific program evaluation; developing methodologies for tracking recurring requirements and progress of scientific research; and providing analytic and interpretative data used in formulating organizational policies and goals.
You will receive credit for all experience material to the position, including experience gained in religious, civic, welfare, service, and organizational activities, regardless of whether you received pay.
