The Veterans Canteen Service (VCS) is seeking a Supervisory Dietitian (Food Operations) for the VA Northern California Health Care System locations. This position reports to the Canteen Chief. The Supervisory Dietitian (Food Operations) will oversee Nutrition and Food Service Operations in Martinez, CA and will be required to travel to Sacramento, CA one time per month. Use of a GSA vehicle will be available for this travel.
Duties
The Supervisory Dietitian (Food Operations) is responsible to the Canteen Chief Nutrition and Food Service for assisting in the formulation and administration of the complete NFS program within the VA Northern California Health Care System. This system consists of a dual campus system including outlying patient care locations and community-based outpatient clinics (CBOCs). The incumbent serves in a supervisory position and has delegation of authority to act for the Canteen Chief. This position is only open to Registered Dietitians.Primary Duties include:

- Selective Service Registration is required for males both after 12/31/1959

Qualifications
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
· Must be a Registered Dietitian and be able to provide documentation.
· At least one year of experience as a dietitian.
· Quality and complexity level of experience should be commensurate with duties and responsibilities of the position.
· Knowledge of standards to assess staff compliance and implement performance improvements.
· Skill in establishing goals and objectives to coordinate activities, evaluate accomplishments and solve problems.
· Skill in applying nutritional knowledge to ensure menus meet nutrition standards.
· Ability to serve as a food operations expert, providing technical guidance, direction and staff development.
· Ability to utilize Evidence-Based Nutrition Practice Guidelines in order to develop, implement and coordinate best practices.
· Ability to supervise subordinate staff (i.e., plan, organize, delegate, direct, control and review activities and performance).
· Ability to analyze data in order to recommend allocation of resources.
Education
Must be a registered/licensed dietitian
