Duties
Major Duties: This is not an all-inclusive list
A POWERED SUPPORT SYSTEMS MECHANIC, WG, 5378, 10, 1) Responsible for the accurate interpretation of numerous manufacturer drawings, specifications, operating instructions, and test procedures, to troubleshoot, calibrate, align and repair a variety of highly complex pieces of powered support equipment. This includes identifying, repairing or replacing numerous electronic (both digital and analog) components. It also includes the repair of composite materials and state of the art gas compressor turbines and electronically controlled engines. Troubleshoots, repairs, adjusts and aligns down sized powered support equipment. Uses a variety of sophisticated testers, such as analyzers, digital meters, oscilloscopes and other measuring devices to determine repair requirements. Corrects unusual maintenance problems, by interpreting a variety of technical data such as tables, charts, formulas, color codes, wiring diagrams, and schematic symbols. Does circuit analyses, considers integrated circuit relationships, and applies electronic principles in order to fault-isolate and repair the various digital devices contained in highly complex powered support equipment.
Qualifications
MILITARY GRADES: : ENLISTED (SrA/E-4 to TSgt/E-6)
Failure to obtain a compatible AFSC may result in termination of employment. The military grade of the supervisor must equal or exceed the grade of personnel supervised.
GENERAL AND SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS:WG09 and aboveExperience or training removing, adjusting, replacing, cleaning, and installing parts, components, and accessories. Experience which provided working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic theory applying to powered support equipment and systems; and skill to replace, fit, install, and make adjustments. Experience which provided working knowledge of the makeup and operation of the various individual systems maintained and their interrelationships. Experience reading and interpreting parts lists, manufactures' repair manuals, diagrams, and electrical schematics.
