This position is located with the National Park Service, Visitor and Resource Protection, Division of Fire and Aviation, Branch of Wildland Fire, located at the National Interagency Fire Center (NIFC), in Boise, Idaho. Information about the Boise area can be found at www.boisechamber.org.

Duties
Provides leadership, direction, and guidance for the fomulation, allocation, and execution of the National Park Service wildland fire budget.
Coordinates with and provides expert advice and counsel to the other Wildland Fire Branch and Division of Fire and Aviation Management staff, regional offices, park units, WASO budget and the Office of Wildland Fire.
Formulates national policies related to financial and budget management, develops program objectives, establishes priorities and provides specialized staff assistance to the NPS and Departmental officials.
Works directly and routinely with interagency partners in the development and implementation of interagency financial management policy and guidance.
Serves as a member of a chartered leadership board composed of wildland fire management staff to collaborate and socialize draft policy or standards, and budget formulation, allocation, and execution through strategic planning and coordination.
Analyzes all phases of NPS wildland fire management programs to determine cost-effective and efficient program implementation strategies, resource requirements, and budgets for regional offices and the national office.
Provides the full range supervisory duties for budget program employees including setting short and long-term priorities for the program.

To qualify for a GS-14: You must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 level that is equivalent in difficulty and complexity as indicated by the following examples:
Formulate, execute, and/or project multi-year budgets appropriations for federal Wildland Fire Management.
Recommend or participate in writing, reviewing or development of national policy and guidelines for all phases of wildland fire program financial management.
Communicate and interpret financial management decisions.
Provide supervision, leadership, or program management to ensure priorities are carried out timely and professionally by establishing and assigning work and establishing performance standards.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade requirement in accordance with 5 CFR 300.604.
