About the Position: Serves as the Administrative Officer in the Executive Office with responsibility for assisting management on administrative operations, civilian personnel management, and special studies. Duties

Maintains and safeguards the Deputy Commander’s sensitive correspondence and related documents concerning subordinate personnel matters, i.e., pending investigations, effectiveness reports, request for assistance, and Labor/Management activities. Receives all incoming mail, independently determines appropriate distribution within the Command Group, refers to appropriate personnel within the District, or handles personally. Receives and screens telephone calls and visitors, such as high-ranking military and civilian personnel; Federal, State and local officials; congressional members and their staff; and CEOs of major corporations. Independently arranges all travel arrangements by obtaining and confirming airline reservations which includes procurement of airline tickets. Provides comprehensive administrative support often of a highly sensitive and diverse nature requiring a great deal of discretion, individual initiative, trust, and confidence. Coordinates closely with the Commander's Executive Assistant to establish, improve, and provide continuity of Executive Office operations and promotion of administrative processes in the preparation and flow of correspondence and staff actions. Responsible for procurement of goods, supplies, training, and services. Orders supplies and prepares PR and C obligations for purchases for a wide variety of retail, commercial, and technical items by varied open market purchase methods. Coordinates all personnel matters for military officers, as well as foreign officers. Primary point of contact for military members providing administrative support regarding training, medical, family support issues, and liaison support. Reviews District policies and procedures and assures that appropriate internal control systems are maintained in compliance with internal control standards and higher headquarters’ guidance. Coordinates personnel actions with the Division staff and provides liaison with the Civilian Personnel Advisory Center to resolve related issues and problems.

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education or specialized experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. For the GS-09: One year of specialized experience which includes applying advanced analytical and evaluative skills to perform qualitative and quantitative assessments of work processes, budget data, personnel utilization; developing program plans and work methods; utilizing automated tools related to human resource requests, financial management; and scheduling and arranging federal travel and training requirements. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Business Administration, Business Management, or other related field of study. OR Combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
