About the Position: Serve as a Maintenance Mechanic Supervisory responsibility for planning, coordinating, managing, and directing a variety of unassociated work operations involving non-supervisory trades and craftsmen.
Duties
Responsible for planning the overall use of assigned personnel and resources of the organization to accomplish work operations which are planned on a year-to-year basis.
Assign work tasks to employees; explain work requirements, methods, and procedures; and instructs employees on new work procedures. Investigate work related problems and implements corrective action.
Ensure that equipment and supplies are available to perform the required maintenance.
Develop performance standards, counsels employees on performance, and makes formal and informal performance appraisals.
Review job descriptions for accuracy and currency; interview candidates for vacancies; schedule and approve leave requests of subordinates; identify employees training needs; counsel employees on problems; and maintain production reports and records.
Investigate work related problems to identify causes and implements corrective action.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
- A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed
- This position has been designated Mission Essential. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor without more than normal supervision. perform common Maintenance Mechanic Supervisory tasks such as planning multi-trade work operations involving electrical, asbestos abatement, high voltage electrican (motors vehicle operator), locksmith, carpentry, plumbing and painting; estimating time, materials and equipment required to complete maintenance and repair projects; organizing work assignments where judgment as to individual abilities are involved; evaluating work and providing guidance through interpreting oral and written instructions for facility maintenance and repair; AND performing quality control checks on subordinate workers, identifying problem areas and making recommendations for improvements.- Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work requires frequent walking, standing, climbing, bending, stooping, reaching, crawling, driving, prolonged use of computer equipment, and carrying or lifting of heavy objects. Lifts up to 50 lbs. and may lift over 50 lbs. with assistance.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed inside and outside with exposure to dirt, dust, grease, noise, and extremes in weather such as heat over 100 degrees, blowing dust, rain, etc. There is a possibility of scrapes, burns, bruises, cuts, and strains. May require use of protective clothing or equipment as authorized by the Installation Safety Office. Requires possession of a valid driver's license to perform incidental driving to and from work sites.
