The Program Assistant for Social Work Service. Ensures that the clinical and administrative programs are provided with the necessary coordination and support to make the departmental operations successful. Responsible to ensure compliance with and meet the internal and external regulatory bodies.

Duties

Duties include but not limited to the following: Collecting, compiling and tracking data and information. Receiving and processing documents and reports with established procedures in a health care setting. Establishing, updating and maintaining office files and records. Follows regulations and polices surrounding files including maintaining, purging and disposing of files. Perform and assist with timekeeping responsibilities Provide clerical support including answering telephones, referring visitors, or providing information concerns routine and procedural requirements. Screening calls and personally answering calls when the requested information concerns routine and procedural requirements. Retrieves electronic documents and files, activates printers, formats letters, reports and memoranda; and transmitting and receiving emails. Performs automation duties using such software applications such as word processing, spreadsheet, electronic mail, desktop publishing, calendar, database and/or graphics. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Telework: VA supports the use of telework as a way to help attract and retain talented individuals in public service, increase worker productivity, and better prepare the agency to operate during emergencies. This position may be authorized for telework. Telework eligibility will be discussed during the interview process. Virtual: This is not a virtual position. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 11/13/2023. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-6 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-5. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education s described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-5 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Specialized experience includes but is not limited to the following: Specialized experience includes but is not limited to the following: Possesses extensive knowledge regarding the rules, regulations and polices pertaining to CSP at local VISN and Central Office levels as well as extensive knowledge of regulations, policies and memorandums for Social Work Services that can be provided via CSP; possesses knowledge of medical terminology and usages, spelling, grammar, abbreviations, composition, and ability to determine and follow formats for VA memos and Reports; plan effectively, set priorities, coordinate activities, have a high degree of skill in oral and written communications with a variety of people from different backgrounds and different levels of understanding, and present a positive image of Veterans Administration; Communicates effectively and appropriately to customer inquiries about CSP program, policies, procedures and methods; excellent customer service skills are required. You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position: ClericalCommunicationsComputer SkillsManages and Organizes Information Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
