This position is located in Death Valley National Park, in the Management Branch. This is a term position with an initial appointment expecting to last at least 13 months but may be extended up to a total of four years, or more based on any changes to regulations governing the number of years term appointments may last, without further competition. Term positions do not convey permanent status in the Federal service.

Duties

This position serves as a construction control representative in Death Valley National Park working on projects to repair the park from flash flood damage. This is a Term position that will manage projects to repair flood-damaged roads, utilities, and buildings in Death Valley National Park. The work is focused on damage caused by flash floods from July 2022 through January 2023 The position will be duty stationed in either Pahrump, NV or Death Valley, CA. If stationed in Pahrump, NV, the employee will use a government vehicle to drive 62 miles to Death Valley National Park when tasks are required in the park. Pahrump is an unincorporated community of about 44,000 people. It is about one hour from Las Vegas and one hour from Death Valley National Park. Qualifications

All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-11/13/2023-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect full and/or part-time or total number of hours worked (i.e., work 40+ hours a week, rather than indicating full-time). If part-time, the hours must be annotated to be able to pro-rate the amount of qualified specialized experience. To qualify for this position at the GS-11 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-10 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: monitoring and controlling construction operations throughout the duration of a complex construction project involving multiple trades; serving as a government quality assurance (QA) field representative. You must include hours per week worked. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
