This position is located in Great Smoky Mountains National Park, in the Facility and Maintenance Division. This is a Career/Career-Conditional Full-time appointment. Duties

Major Duties: Incumbent will be required to operate, lead, and instruct others in the operation of variety of heavy equipment. Incumbent will be required to operate, lead, and instruct others in the operation of a variety of motor vehicles such as, but not limited to dump trucks up to twelve cubic yard capacity, one-ton pickups, push plows, diesel tractors, 1/2-to-1-ton pickup trucks, etc. Incumbent performs and instructs others in the performance of preventive maintenance on all road equipment under their assignment, including minor adjustments, changing and/or cleaning oil, fuel, air filters, cleans debris from radiators, and greases moving parts as specified by operator's manuals. Incumbent washes and cleans interior and exterior of equipment and vehicles when necessary. Serves as acting supervisor in the absence of the Engineering Equipment Supervisor. Performs condition assessment on assets for project planning and work order development. Assists the Engineering Equipment Supervisor in performance of administrative duties including record keeping, labor reporting, collection of daily and project work logs, and purchases with Government credit card. Inspects project sites and equipment for safety hazards. If hazards are present, ensures that corrections are made before work continues. Assures that all work areas are clean and safe during and at the end of each shift. Repiars and replaces defective traffic control signs, road markers, guard rails, road guard posts, road culverts, steel grill drains, concrete drains, and drainage structures. Leads and assists other employees with these duties. Current surplus and current or former displaced Federal individuals who have special priority selection rights under the Agency Career Transition Assistance Program (CTAP) or the Interagency Career Transition Assistance Program (ICTAP) must be well qualified for the position to receive consideration for special priority selection. Well qualified means that the applicant meets the following: OPM qualification standards for the position; all selective placement factors, where applicable; special qualifying conditions that OPM has approved for the position, where applicable; is physically qualified with reasonable accommodation, where appropriate to satisfactorily perform the duties of the position upon entry; and is rated by the organization at least at the well qualified level on all competencies. Federal employees seeking CTAP/ICTAP eligibility must submit proof that they meet the requirements of 5 CFR 330.605(2) for CTAP and 5 CFR 330.704 for ICTAP. This includes a copy of the agency notice, a copy of their most recent Performance Rating, and a copy of their most recent SF-50 noting current position, grade level, and duty location.
