About the Position: The U.S. Military Academy, West Point, NY is an academic institution located in the Hudson River Valley, 50 miles from New York City. The historic site is the oldest continuously occupied military post in America. Employees have access to Eisenhower Hall Theater, Hudson Valley's performing arts center, and recreational facilities.
This is for a TERM position not to exceed 13 months but may be extended to a maximum of eight years depending upon the needs of management.
Duties
Coordinates with agencies to ensure that financial data such as project obligations and expenditures are executed on schedule.
Prepare and review a variety of automated reports for proper format and inclusion of required data.
Assist staff in entering and/or extracting project information from automated management systems.
Gather, extract, review, verify, and consolidate a variety of information and statistical data needed in the formulation and presentation of budget requests.
Track monies from a wide variety of sources including multi-year appropriations for general research and special activities such as computer electronics research, development and engineering.
Prepare the annual operating budget for the Cyber Research Center, Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.
Execute the current yearly budget consisting of multiple reimbursable and gift funding sources under the direction of the resource advisor.
Prepare, update, and submit purchase requests and all required supporting documentation.
Execute credit card purchases to include purchase order preparation, purchase, reconciliation at the end of each billing cycle, receipt of goods and services, and filing of all required documents.
Perform various administrative functions in support of project management and other activities.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) operating automated software programs to prepare charts and/or reports; 2) maintaining records and/or files; and 3) preparing various funding and/or procurement documents such as purchase requests. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
