The primary purpose of this position is to provide clerical administrative support to the Sheppard Child Development Center Program.
Duties
Cordially greets parents, children and visitors upon entering the Child Development Centers.
Enrolls new children assisting parents with the completion of Air Force Forms 1181, USDA, waiting list, and any other form necessary for program enrollment.
Contacts parents when a child becomes ill or is injured.
Responsible for the accuracy of daily cashier reports, USDA records, reimbursement reports, deposits and all financial reports.
Using mechanized or other prescribed system, updates and maintains required records.

- Must be able to obtain a health and foodhandler’s card and successfully complete and LAC and NACI. This includes undergoing a background records check consisting of local file checks, local agency checks and national agency clearances.
- Must have certification or complete requirements for CPR and First Aid Certification.
- This position has been identified as having "regular contact with children". IAW Public Law 101-647 Section 231, and Public Law 102-190, Section 1094.
- An FBI fingerprint and State Criminal History Repository (SCHR) Check will be completed on any person selected for this position.
- The incumbent must have the ability to type a minimum of 40 WPM.
- This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use. This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Testing Program.
- Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing. Incumbent of this position is subject to the possibility of a random drug test.
- A physical exam is required for this position.
- Travel and relocation expenses will NOT be paid.
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-04, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of a body of standardized rules, procedures or operations to perform the full range of broad clerical assignments and resolve recurring problems; skill and knowledge to operate a cash register, adding machines and other office machines; receiving payments, using credit card machine and cash register, recording payments and completing customer receipts; and experience performing clerical duties such as creating various routine correspondence/reports, maintaining files/records, and reviewing and processing mail.

EDUCATION: Four (4) years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school. NOTE: You must submit a copy of transcripts.
OR
COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position; only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience. NOTE: You must submit a copy of transcripts.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Ability to communicate effectively orally, using tact and courtesy and monitor authorized visitors.
Knowledge of CDC policies and procedures pertaining to registration information.
Knowledge of applicable regulations and procedures as outlined in AFR215-27 as they pertain to child illness.
Skill and knowledge to operate, or learn to operate a cash register and proper cash handling.
Ability to monitor enrollment keeping accurate records according to AFI 34-144.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
