About the Position: Performs special duties required in chapels as instructed by management and building commandants. Competition for Sexton, WG-7601-03 is restricted by law to persons entitled to Veterans' preference as long as such applicants are available for appointment. If there are no Veterans preference eligible applicants available, non-preference applicants may be considered.

Duties

Prepares chapels for funeral services and other scheduled events. Answers questions and provides general assistance to wedding parties. Answers inquiries from visitors pertaining to chapel and other points of interest on post to foster good communications and public relations. Makes weekly bank deposits. Ensure facilities are prepared for religious services to include close out procedures before and after scheduled activities. Directs traffic for funerals to avoid congestion and assists with coordinating parking. Controls and/or dims lights for special features of service. Operates the soundboard for services and recording sessions. Performs routine custodial functions, such as sweeping, mopping, waxing and polishing floors, washing windows, cleaning stairways, lavatories, emptying trash, shoveling snow, snow blowing, and raking leaves. Required to operate and maintain snow blowers, scrubbing machines, polishing machines and vacuum cleaners.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position will require incumbent to work weekends and some holidays.
• This position requires incumbent to report to work on snow days to aid in the removal of snow from the religious facilities.
• This position may require rotating shift work.
• This position requires incumbent to be able to lift 35lbs and over 50lbs with assistance.
• This position requires a pre-appointment physical examination.
• This position requires work be performed both indoors and outdoors.
• This position requires you to wear and use protective safety equipment to prevent the exposure to conditions inherent in cleaning tasks.

Maintaining an orderly and clean facility, following general instructions, cleaning and disinfecting a variety of surfaces, operating sound and light equipment, preparing facilities for events, answering general inquiries, and trash removal. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
