This position serves as Journeyman Electrician within the Facilities Management Service/Engineering Branch at the Orlando VA Medical Center. Responsible to WS-2805-10 Electrician Foreman. The Journeyman Electrician will be responsible for the day to day maintenance and operations of all electrical power systems throughout the Orlando VAMC Main Campus and off-site business offices and Outpatient Clinics.

Duties

Duties include, but are not limited to: Install, modify, repair, maintain, troubleshoot, test and load new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems and associated fixtures, controls and equipment. Work from building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, engineering drawings, electrical manufactures maintenance and repair manuals to plan and lay out the routing, placement, type, size, gauge, balance and load of electrical lines. Determine location of panels, pull and junction boxes, conduits and all associated fittings. Respond to customer reported issues. Test, troubleshoot and independently determine an appropriate course of action. Determine installations and repairs including such things as the types, sizes, gauges and lay out of conduit, wiring, couplings, fittings, relays, controls and distribution panels and other electrical systems and best methods of installation and repair. Work Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday 6:30 am - 3:00 pm, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm, 3:00 pm - 11:30 pm; Sunday-Thursday 6:30 am - 3:00 pm, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm, 3:00 pm - 11:30 pm Position Description Title/PD#: Electrician/PD675-02581-A Physical Requirements: Must be physically fit as work involveslifting, pulling, climbing, crawling, working with hands over head, working in confined areas, and using arm and back muscles in tightening of connections. He/she must have the ability to be on feet for long periods either standing, walking, working off ladder or staging materials and lift equipment weighing 60 pounds and over. The employee will request assistance when needed to avoid injury.
