You will serve as a TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANT in the Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, AZ of MARINE CORPS AIR STATION YUMA.
Duties
You will review applicants’ orders to determine if the applicant is entitled to shipment and/or storage of personal property at Government expense.
You will determine method of shipment, estimate the weight of property to be shipped, obtain data on any unusual items requiring special packing, and consignee information.
You will advise on entitlements and procedures related to temporary storage of goods, weight allowance, prohibited items vehicles, and household goods.
You will review applications received by mail/email from members or Transportation Offices requesting property to be picked up from residence and/or storage warehouse for either shipment or storage.
You will review inbound documentation for completeness and draft messages when necessary to obtain inbound documentation.
You will input personal property shipment service(s) via transportation systems of records or other communication means with DOD approved servicing Transportation Service Providers (TSP) for movement.
You will provide assistance in reviewing entitlements for shipping and/or storage of personal property.
You will be marking and tagging incoming and outgoing shipment.
You will maintain files.
You will generate letters, reports, tabulated material, memoranda, and other related documentation in either rough draft of final form.
You will perform extensive research in different transportation regulations to obtain information for specialized and unique freight shipments to determine proper mode for shipment.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

- Must be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- Must be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
Qualifications
This position requires the ability to type at least 40 words per minute. Your response to the typing skill question on the Occupational Questionnaire will be used in your qualification determination.
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate most or all of the following: 1.) Providing assistance in reviewing entitlements for shipping and/or storage of personal property; 2.) Marking and tagging incoming and outgoing shipment; 3.) Maintaining files; 4.) Generating letters, reports, tabulated material, memoranda, and other related documentation in either rough draft of final form; 5.) Performing extensive research in different transporation regulations to obtain information for specialized and unique freight shipments to determine proper mode for shipment.
