You will serve as a Mechanical Engineer in the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division, NAVAIRWARCENADLKE.

Duties

You will analyze method of testing to determine or improve effectiveness, reliability or validity of the process You will assess test requirements and criteria to develop test plans for warfare systems You will accomplish developmental assignments utilizing basic techniques, procedures, and methods You will adapt mechanical engineering principles and practices where significant departures from established practices are required

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1. Testing programs for assigned Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force and private industry shipboard and shore based aircraft recovery systems. 2. Participating in teams which search for, identify, and eliminate waste from all work/business processes. 3. . Solving problems effectively by using objective data to generate conclusions. 4. Coordinating as well as providing broad engineering and technical guidance to engineers, equipment specialists, and artisans that are engaged in test and evaluation duties. 5. developing and implementing new theoretical test site installations for the testing of legacy recovery systems. Education

Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual:

Successful completion of a professional engineering degree. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree (or higher) in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET); or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico. Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A (above). Successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field, e.g., engineering technology, physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology, may be accepted in lieu of a bachelor's degree in engineering, provided the applicant has had at least one year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance. Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
