Duties
Person selected will exercise supervisory personnel management responsibilities at least 25% of the time. You'll have the opportunity to particiapte in planing, organizing, and directing the activities of the Sustainment Branch which is composed of military and civilian employees, with responsibility for guiding the logistics support requirements to ensure critical space operational systems are sustainable through all levels of conflict and the lowest life cycle cost. You'll represent MAJCOM/Field Command with higher levels agencies and contractor organizations. You'll be directing periodic and comprehensive assessment and evaluation of HQ USSF and HQ SpOC goals, and objectives, which will provide a basis for long-range planning.
The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of advanced concepts, principles, practices, methods, and techniques to provide expert judgment concerning programs and operations. Ability to resolve complex, unique problems, conditions, or issues; or significantly alter standard practices, processes and known techniques. Knowledge of the missions, roles, functions, organizational structures, and operation of the DoD, Air Force, U.S. Space Force, and organization that govern, interface with, and/or influence the systems acquisitions process and integrated logistics support (ILS). Knowledge and mastery to apply experimental theories and new applications or developments to problems not susceptible to treatment by accepted methods. In-depth knowledge of program planning, budget and financial management cycles and policies.
Key Skills and Abilities:
1. Mastery of the policies, practices, regulations, and laws concerning system sustainment and acquisition logistics.
2. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures.
3. Expert knowledge of space mission, roles, functions, organizational structures, and operation of the DOD, Air Force, USSF, and organizations that govern, interface with, and/or influence the systems acquisition process.
4. Expert knowledge of defense acquisition/sustainment policies and procedures dealing with system planning, design, development, testing and fielding for operations.
5. Knowledge of the principles, policies and practices of system acquisition, cost comparison and analysis, and schedule management.
6. Ability to stratify resources against approved programs: to plan, present, and advocate budget requirements; to analyze budget impacts on programs; and to forecast long-term sustainment funding requirements.
7. Expert ability to organize and reprioritize work to meet challenging deadlines and effectively support acquisition programs and taskings.
8. Ability to make sound judgments concerning acquisition logistics/sustainment requirements in areas such as Technical Orders, spares provisioning, support equipment, training and training systems, manpower, security, facilities and testing.
9. Knowledge of business, configuration management, contracting procedures, technical concepts, and production practices to evaluate contractor proposals and activities.
10. Knowledge of evolutionary system acquisition and spiral development.
11. Ability to gather and analyze a variety of program information, make sound judgments concerning program progress, and effectively communicate recommendations orally and in writing to higher organizational management.

- Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.
- Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret w/SCI clearance.
- Employee needs to obtain and maintain approval to access the portfolio of Special Access Programs required to perform daily duties.
- This position is designated as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Testing Program.
- May be required to travel by military or commercial aircraft in the performance of TDY assignments.
- May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
- The employee must meet the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) requirements applicable to the duties of the position.
