Primary purpose of the position is to transport patients for medical appointments using van, wheelchair van, sedans and other appropriate vehicles.
Duties
***Driver's License: A current and valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with passenger endorsement is required for this position.
Duties include but not limited to:
Driving assignments are conducted in a safe, courteous manner and are completed in a timely fashion.
Operate gasoline, diesel, and electric powered wheeled vehicles.
Operate platform, van and stake trucks, and passenger shuttle and cargo vans which have a gross vehicle weight (GVW) of 10,000 pounds and up to 28,000 pounds.
Operate vehicles over uneven terrain, over improved and unimproved roads, and through congested areas.
Operate 28, 30, and 44 passenger buses. (Passenger CDL Certification Required)
Operate vehicles with power take off devices for transferring engine power to special purpose accessory equipment such as winches, power lifts, plows and spreaders.
Perform maintenance on vehicles (check tire pressure, oil and other fluid levels, windshield wipers, fuel levels, and belt and hose condition).
Complete vehicle trip logs.
Complete documentation associated with transportation of patients into the community.
Maneuver buses in traffic and in congested locations while maintaining time schedules.
Follow written and oral instructions from supervisor.
Obey traffic laws and safety regulations.
Safely operate vehicles that have heavier loads to secure and control and that are difficult to maneuver, especially when turning and backing.
Know when mechanical and operational problems indicate a bus or other vehicle is unsafe to drive.
Know safe braking distances because of the weight or size of a bus or because of the added weight of passengers.
Ability to load and unload commercial vehicle, operating a motorized lift gate safely to avoid accidents and ensure safe delivery of cargo and/or patients.
Use a wheelchair lift and secure wheelchair and/or scooter passengers for safe transport.
Driving assignments are conducted in a safe, courteous manner and are completed in a timely fashion.
Follows directions and road maps to determine the best and quickest route to destination or to return to the medical center.
Safely loads, secures, and unloads passengers who may or may not have a disability, their belongings, and any passengers' durable medical equipment, if necessary.
All other duties as assigned by management.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm, subject to change based on the needs of the facility.

Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: Effort is required to control vehicles that carry heavy loads or large numbers of people. Requires bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, climbing ladders, working in all types of weather conditions and being able to lift up to 50 pounds. Operates vehicles in all types of weather and traffic conditions. Works inside and outside and is subject to drafts, noise and varying temperatures. Exposed to weather and temperature extremes. Exposed to high noise levels, vibrations and jolts. Exposed to dust, dirt, grease and fumes. Follows prescribed safety practices. Incumbent is subject to random drug testing.
