The primary purpose of the position is to assists the Service Chief with the day-to-day operations of the Prosthetics & Sensory Aids Service (P&SAS) based on a sound working knowledge of the organization and its programs. Assists with providing specialized services to seriously disabled veterans including amputees, deafened and blind veterans, and paraplegics/quadriplegics. Provides equipment for post hospital care to those with related disabilities.
Duties
Major duties include, but are not limited to the following:
Receives and interprets electronic consults and prosthetic request and reviews for completeness, comparing diagnosis or disability to equipment and/or service provided for the condition for which requested and/or proper documentation has been provided to justify the issuance.
Responsible for using the CPRS (Computerized Patient Records System) system and for protecting the system's information from unauthorized release or from loss, alterations, or unauthorized deletions.
Responsible for determining eligibility for the Clothing Allowance Program' and computer entry of the veterans Clothing Allowance information.
Organizes computerized data sets and retrieves computerized data.
Performs basic analysis of the data and generates a variety of reports.
Assists with determining equipment and other resources needed to accomplish work assignments as appropriate.
Attends all staff meetings, types minutes and tracks credit for training for employee.
Maintains an efficient filing system and current publication library where all appropriate issues are available for use by the operating elements within Prosthetics.
Responsible for review of training records and arrangement of in-service and mandatory training for service employees.
Responsible for utilizing priority Government supply sources and other mandatory sources to the maximum extent practicable and obtaining or developing justification deviations.
Obligated to protect sensitive date and to use such data and information derived from it only in the execution of official duties.
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 4:00pm

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 11/07/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-5. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
Typing Proficiency: You must be able to type 40 words per minute.
In addition to the Typing Proficiency, you must meet the Specialized Experience described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Knowledge of automated computed systems used to account for inventories. Skills in using office automation equipment. Skills in using Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, and other inventory management programs. Knowledge to understand medical diagnoses and prescription. Provide general information for record/files. (This experience must be well documented in your resume or application package.)

Physical Requirements: Work is mostly sedentary, requiring some walking and stooping to retrieve and/or re-file files. May periodically handle equipment returned from veterans with contagious diseases.
