As a Logistics Management Specialist, you will be responsible for controlling, coordinating, and executing Logistics support programs within Ames Research Center by establishing metrics which identify business objectives and drive program behaviors for planning and executing approved strategies. Ames Logistics programs include Supply and Supply Chain Management, Transportation, Shipping and Freight, Property Accountability and Disposition, Warehouse Storage, and a Motor Pool.
Duties
Duties described below are at the full-performance level. Duties assigned at a lower grade level will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity; duties will be commensurate with the grade of selected employee.
Investigates, resolves, or contributes to the resolution of assigned high-priority logistics, supply, distribution, information, or service problems through personal action or immediate coordination with required local personnel/activities.
Serves as an integrator and/or facilitator for contact with supply, transportation, and/or property management customers, ensuring service is positioned to serve the full range of logistics program needs.
Performs logistical assessments of strategic support in coordination with the supported customers, troubleshooting and resolving issues where deficiencies affect the mission while alerting management of systemic problems.
Develops designated input for fiscal year and long-range plans and programs, analyzing material for reasonableness, consistency, and validity of various assumptions.
Analyzes the effectiveness of logistics and vendor support services, developing ongoing strategic analyses across logistics activities and recommending solutions for improvements.
Researches and studies private industry as well as NASA best practices to develop and apply concepts that best fit and support logistics program requirements.
Develops logistics program management training opportunities, programs, support offerings, supplies, and services to collaborative partners and customers. Participates in the development of education and training documentation.
Communicates with customers and personnel on the role logistics plays in maintaining comprehensive logistics support, operational readiness, and sustainability.

Qualifications
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
To qualify for GS-11, you must have:
a) One year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level
working with logistical programs to ensure full utilization of resources while preparing and providing reports, and conducting audits and inspections;
assisting with the development of plans to integrate logistical support of operations in the areas of supply, service, maintenance, transportation, and/or property accountability;
utilizing current logistics and financial systems to monitor, input, and track supplies, equipment, and status of funds.
OR
b) Completed all requirements for a doctoral degree (i.e., Ph.D. or equivalent) in an appropriate field
OR
c) Completed 3 full academic years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or equivalent doctoral degree in an appropriate field
OR
d) LL.M., if related
OR
e) Have an equivalent combination of experience and graduate study as discussed in a), b), c) and d) above
