You will serve as a ROOFER in the PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT of NAVFAC NORTHWEST. Salary Range of the WG-07: $28.89 - $33.70 Salary Range of the WG-09: $31.88 - $37.19

Duties

You will perform roof repairs and facilities maintenance. You will install and make repairs on a variety of roof systems (i.e., built-up, fiberglass shingle, PVC vinyl, metal, loose-membrane, etc.). You will install and repair gutters/leaders, skylights, ventilators, gravel stops, drains, valleys, chimneys, or other roofing accessories. You will fabricate all types of metal accessories, solder joints, cut/shape shingles, etc.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.

Qualifications

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen-out Element for this position is: To qualify for the WG-9: 1) Installing and replacing a variety of roofs (i.e., built-up, fiberglass shingle, PVC vinyl, metal, loose-membrane, etc.); 2) Installing and replacing roofing accessories (i.e., gutters, leaders, skylights, ventilators, gravel stops, drains, valleys, and chimneys); and 3) Investigating and repairing roof leaks; 4) Fabricating metal accessories and replace roofing supports (decking, beams, etc.). To qualify for the WG-7: 1) Assisting with the install and repair on many different types of roofs (i.e., built-up, fiberglass shingle, PVC vinyl, metal, loose-membrane, etc.); 2) Assisting with the install of roofing accessories (i.e., gutters, leaders, skylights, ventilators, gravel stops, drains, valleys, and chimneys); and 3) Utilizing tools of the trade (saws, shingle cutters, metal snips, pry bars, hammers, nail pullers, etc.) NOTE: This information must be supported in your resume to be considered for the position.
