This AIRCRAFT SURVIVAL FLIGHT EQUIPMENT REPAIRER is located in the Aircrew Life Support function, Air Operations Division and is part of the CA 144 FW.

Duties

THIS IS A T5 EXCEPTED SERVICE TEMPORARY POSITION NOT TO EXCEED ONE YEAR. Selectee may be non-competitively extended up to 4 years if/when funding becomes available. The primary purpose of the AIRCRAFT SURVIVAL FLIGHT EQUIPMENT REPAIRER, WG-4818-10, is to provides diagnostic, analytical, calibration, investigative research, troubleshooting, in-depth inspections, quality control inspections, certification, testing, evaluation, and maintenance or overhaul of all aircrew life support and chemical defense equipment. Provides formal academic classroom and technical instruction to all pilots/aircrew on all initial and continuation instruction to ensure aircrew survival ability under peacetime or combat operations. Responds and participates as an Air Force aircraft mishap board representative in investigating life-support equipment failures/malfunctions associated with mishaps.

AIRCRAFT SURVIVAL FLIGHT EQUIPMENT REPAIRER, WG-4818-10: Must have at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the WG-09 level, or equivalent pay band in other pay systems in the Federal government. This experience may also have been obtained in the private sector, but must demonstrate that it is comparable to the GS grade indicated. Specialized experience may have been demonstrated by performing duties such as: Ensures all life support equipment meets strict airworthiness criteria and that it will sustain combat operations/readiness by inspecting, testing, calibrating, certifying, diagnostic evaluating, troubleshooting, repairing/replacing, assembling and disassembling all aircrew life support equipment, aircrew chemical/biological defense equipment, and aircraft ejection/non-ejection systems. Utilizes a variety of complex state of the art diagnostic testers/systems/specialty tools. Certifies by signature forms and equipment records the proper configuration and serviceability of aircraft installed equipment.
