About the Position: This position is located in the169th EN BN 1ST Engineer Brigade U.S. Army Engineer School with duty located in Gulfport, Mississippi.

Duties

Receive visitors and telephone calls. Compose routine correspondence pertaining to the procedural and clerical functions of the office. Utilize a computer terminal with word processing and database management software programs. Prepare and process leave requests for all personnel of the battalion. Maintain suspense files and leave control logs. Distribute publications and blank forms for the battalion.

  • Must obtain and maintain a current and valid driver's license.
  • A fully qualified typist required.

One year of general experience is progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled, such as, performing progressively responsible clerical or office work pertaining to the initiation, review, and verification of personnel data for enlisted personnel entering the service; and utilizing automation/computer equipment to correct errors and maintain required military records. OR Education: Two years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of by 60. Add the two percentages. Proficiency Required:This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Oral CommunicationPersonnel and HRWritten Communication Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-03). All applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade and specialized experience requirements within thirty (30) days after the closing date of the announcements.
