About the Position: This position will be for Project Management, Maneuver Ammunition Systems- Systems Engineering, Technology and Integration Division. Serves Systems Engineering leader for a or Integrated Product Team (IPT) leader for a group of engineers and technical personnel engaged in the management and execution of one or more life cycle phases of weapons systems development.

Duties

Serves as systems manager, senior engineer and technical consultant responsible for planning, directing, guiding and coordinating the efforts of a team of engineers and technical personnel engaged in executing its assigned responsibilities. Applies system engineering principles and procedures to translate quantified needs/requirements into system performance parameters and the identification of system/item configuration. Attends technical conferences and meetings with representatives of other organizations, other government agencies and private industry to discuss engineering plans and problems, and coordinate operations.

Requirements

  • One year trial period may be required.
  • Secret security clearance is required.
  • TDY, up to 25% may be required.
  • Selectees must meet position requirements for certification at Level- Foundational- in the Acquisition Career Field ENGINEERING AND TECHNICAL MANAGEMENT within 36 months of entrance on duty.
  • Term NTE 2 years, may be made permanent

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and specialized experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Specialized experience is defined as having one year of experience which includes; 1. Analyzing system engineering procedures to ensure translation of quantified requirements are within system performance parameters; 2. Planning assigned phases of the life cycle of designated systems, in accordance with accepted Systems Engineering practices; AND 3. Developing Systems Engineering Management Plans to ensure all essential actions are identified. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).

Education

ALL candidates must possess the Basic Educational Requirement to be considered for this position.

Basic Educational Requirement-General Engineer -0801
A. I have successfully completed a full four-year professional engineering curriculum leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in engineering in an accredited college or university. The curriculum included differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. B. I have successfully completed a full four-year professional engineering curriculum leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in engineering from an accredited college or university that has an engineering curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). (NOTE: You must provide college transcripts to support educational claims)
C. I have successfully passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam (formerly known as the Engineer-in-Training or EIT), or the written test required for professional registration administered by the Boards of Engineering Examiners in the various States, the District of Columbia, Guam, and Puerto Rico. I have completed all the requirements for a bachelor's degree in engineering technology (BET) from an accredited college or university that included 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences, or I have completed a BET from an ABET accredited program. (NOTE: You must provide college transcripts to support educational claims and certificate of completed EIT exam)
D. I am registered as a Professional Engineer in the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico, or any State in the United States. The registration is based on a written examination given by the State Board. (NOTE: You must provide a copy of your professional engineering license and college transcripts to support educational claims)
E. I have a combination of at least four years of college level education, training, and/or technical experience that included successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences, including the courses listed in paragraph "A" above. Course work completed is fully acceptable toward the requirements of a professional engineering curriculum. (NOTE: You must provide college transcripts to support educational claims)
F. I have successfully completed a four-year curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in engineering technology or in a related scientific curriculum such as physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology; and, I have at least one year of professional engineering experience under the guidance and supervision of a professional engineer.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
