You will serve as a HIGH VOLTAGE ELECTRICIAN LEADER in the PUBLIC WORKS of NAVFAC NORTHWEST.
Duties
You will serves as high voltage electrician leading at least 3 employees in a high voltage electrical team in completing accomplishing high voltage electrical inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities.
You will checks condition of transformers, switches, and cable. Tests insulating oil of transformers and oil switches for breakdown and contamination.
You will leads the crew in troubleshooting cable systems to locate shorts, opens, grounds, crosses, electrolysis damage, capacitance imbalance, or cable breaks, using such common electrical test devices as voltmeter, ohmmeter, and megger.
You will leads personnel who install, modify, and replace generation and distribution equipment in substations, power-generating facilities, transformer vaults, and/or distribution centers.
You will assign the workload and making assignments based on the ability, capability and experience of the crew members to support work priorities, schedules, production requirements and maintenance workloads, and the availability of equipment.

- May be required to obtain and maintain current licenses to operate equipment.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- Call back and emergency obertime are regular requirements of this position.
- May be assigend to any basic work or shift horus, including alternating shifts, recall and or work nights, weekends and holidays.
- May require special certification or license if assigned work requires special certification or licensing to perform the work or to use specialized tools or equipment.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO LEAD OR SUPERVISE: 1) Repairing high voltage power generating and distributing equipment (e.g. generators, transformers, switches, circuit breakers, recording instruments, and control systems); 2) Reading circuit drawings and diagrams to identify electrical problems; 3) Using high voltage test equipment (e.g. oscillators, primary and secondary injection tester, meggers, phase sticks, phase rotating meters, digital equipment, and fault finding equipment); 4) Installing transformers, capacitors, insulators, switches, circuit breakers and fuses for main distribution lines over 600V; 5) Using hot-line tools and safety equipment such as wire tongs, wire tong supports, insulated tension links, blankets, tie sticks, sleeves, and insulated gloves when working on high voltage systems.
