This position is located in the Fiscal Service, Payroll Department of the Brockton, MA Veteran Affairs Medical Center.
Duties
***THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION***
Duties included but not limited to:
Review all personnel documents relating to appointments, separations, reassignments, promotions, pay adjustments, awards, and, and other authorizing documents that affect the pay and benefits of employees. The review includes but is not limited to the following: document completeness, accuracy, propriety, and conformance with pay plan entitlements, and applicable regulations and procedural instructions.
Update employee's master payroll records to reflect all changes authorized by personnel documents outlined above and other authorizing documents, savings allotments, thrift allotments, thrift loan repayment allotments, post -1956 military service deposits, health benefits, "optional life insurance, Federal and state taxes, addresses changes, adjustments for re-employment annuitants, uniforms allowances, quarters, subsistence, and parking deductions, union dues, leave group changes, leave donations, court ordered payments, tax levies, and many other authorized deductions.
Process all changes to employee's leave balances such as - full time to part time conversion, part time to full time conversion, retroactive adjustment as a result of service computation date changes, final audit of leave balances when an employee separates, and the completion and issuance of Standard Form 1150 report when an employee separates or transfers to another VA facility or Government agency.
Process all IRS and State tax levies against employee's salary account after explanation (in person) to employee.
Processes collection action of other debts due the U.S. government, such as, salary overpayments, educational loan defaults, military service debts, travel advance payments not liquidated, health benefit debts, workmen compensation debts, and various sundry debts due the U.S. Government.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8am until 4:30pm.

Qualifications
Specialized Experience: You must have had at least one (1) full year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-06 grade level. Specialized experience includes performing a full range of payroll and timekeeping duties including applying pay and leave regulations for multiple schedule types and pay schedules; verifying accuracy of payroll and making adjustments and corrections as needed; calculating overtime/comp time, etc.; preparing time and attendance/payroll information for reporting purposes; and utilizing pay systems.

IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements: Work is primarily performed while sitting, but requires some walking, standing, carrying light objects, and occasionally driving an automobile. Manual dexterity is also required to operate a CRT and/or data entry console.
