You will serve as a COMPUTER SCIENTIST in the DITAC DEPT of NAVAIRWARCENWPNDIV CHINA LAKE.

Duties

You will design and document high-level and detailed IT architecture plans/blueprints, considering scalability, security, data integrity, and interoperability. You will lead the analysis of the current technological environment to detect critical deficiencies, legacy and technical debt, and recommend solutions for improvement. You will collaborate with cybersecurity teams across NAVAIR to embed security measures into the architecture design and ensure compliance with security policies. You will identify opportunities for optimization, cost reduction, and process improvement within the IT enterprise architecture while consulting on application or infrastructure development projects across NAWCWD. You will coach, mentor and collaborate with technical architect peers.

  • This position is designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position. You must obtain and maintain the credentials as described in SECNAV M-5239.2 for specialty area 651 level advanced within 12 months of appointment.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (DP-04) pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate some or all of the following: 1) Demonstrating experience as an IT Architect or similar role with a track record of designing and implementing complex enterprise IT solutions; 2) Utilizing enterprise IT architecture frameworks, methodologies, and best practices; 3) Understanding of various technology domains, including cloud computing, data management, application development, networking, and infrastructure; 4) Leading and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive initiative to successful completion; 5) Articulating concepts and solutions to technical and non-technical stakeholders; and 6) Demonstrating the ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on implementation and execution. Education

Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess

Bachelor's degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.
