This Dietitian (Program Coordinator/Whole Health) position is a Full-Time position at 40 hours per week. Duties

Dietitians are experts in the disciplines of nutrition and food. They translate the complex science of nutrition into healthy, real-world solutions for customers. Dietitians within VHA are fully integrated into a health care team and work within a variety of settings, including but not limited to inpatient, outpatient, long-term care, food operations and community clinics. Dietitians in a clinical setting are responsible for utilizing the Nutrition Care Process (NCP) framework to provide patient-centered care using evidenced-based guidelines to make decisions. Dietitians in the food service setting are responsible for the scientific preparation and service of high-quality food by selection, requisition, receipt, storage, issuance and transportation of food and supplies. They ensure robust and effective sanitation, safety, competency and training programs. The duties include but are not limited to: Conducts projects and performs assignments as a Whole Health Network Coordinator for VISN 1. Establishes and chairs the VISN 1 Whole Health Committee. Assembles a diverse planning team of interdisciplinary health professionals and representatives from various services throughout the VISN. Conducts studies and special projects to implement Whole health programs and improve the efficiency of Whole Health care operations throughout the VISN. Creates VISN WHS implementation deployment strategy using VHA's WHS model. Conducts analyses of all aspects of current or projected Whole Health care programs throughout the VISN for effectiveness in achieving planned goals and objectives and meeting the needs of Veterans and general public. Collaborates and Builds Coalitions. Operates collaboratively and interdependently with all facility, VISN and VACO WH points of contact. Sponsors via regular participation in monthly national OPCC&CT Network Sponsors' calls which will include providing intermittent presentations/updates on local VISN accomplishments, issues, and VISN/facility best practices. Provides Patient Centered Care and WH Expertise and Consultation to VISN Executive leadership and facilities within the VISN structure. Conducts management surveys, audits, special projects, etc. and provides advisory services to operating or management officials. Reviews submissions from Medical Centers to Network office to assure accuracy, clarity, and compliance with VHA policies. Prepares analytical briefings and reports for Network management to use in the decision making process based on a wide variety of special studies, using Network financial and clinical data to do cost/benefit and program analysis. Provides Patient Centered and Whole Health Field Services: On-Site and Virtual. Maintains VISN Budget. Uses existing VHA OPCC & CT tools to help sites create budget projections for implementation of whole health at their sites and assists in tracking budget needs/growth over time. Develop and formulate budget requests for coming fiscal year. Promotes and Models Inclusion of the Voice of the Veteran and Staff in Decision-Making. Prepares Reports. Prepares and coordinates reports timely and serves as the point of contact for VISN strategies and initiatives within the assigned area. Analyzes and evaluates, on a quantitative and/or qualitative basis, the effectiveness of programs or operations in meeting established goals, measures, and objectives, and prepares program status reports for review at all levels. Data Management and Analysis. Maximizes use of existing data systems ensure they are supporting program efforts. Develops WH Education and Other Resources. Ensures educational materials are disseminated throughout the VISN. Performs other duties as assigned. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday. Hours: 7:30am - 4:00pm. Qualifications

Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. English Language Proficiency: Dietitians must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d). Education and Supervised Practice: The individual must have earned a bachelor's degree from a U.S. regionally accredited college or university or foreign equivalent and fulfilled each of the following criteria: Completed a didactic program in dietetics accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND), formerly known as the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetic Education (CADE). Completed an ACEND accredited or approved supervised practice program. Supervised practice programs are post-baccalaureate degree programs that provide supervised practice experiences which meet the eligibility requirements and accreditation standards of ACEND, formally known as CADE. Completion of a coordinated program in dietetics fulfills the requirements of a supervised practice program. Time spent in a dietetic internship or supervised practice program does not qualify as creditable experience. Grade Determinations GS-14 Program Coordinator: (a) Experience. Completion of 1 year of experience equivalent to the next lower grade level directly related to the position being filled, and must fully meet the KSAs at that level. (b) Assignment. For all assignments above the full performance level, the higher-level duties must consist of significant scope, complexity (difficulty) and variety and be performed by the incumbent at least 25% of the time. VISN Program Coordinators in this assignment serve as the technical advisor and liaisons between the National NFS Program Office and facilities within the VISN. They ensure the integration of clinical nutrition and food operations within the overall health care model at the VISN. VISN Program Coordinators represent NFS on interdisciplinary VISN task forces, committees and projects of broad scope and significance to the VA health care mission. They interpret VHA policy, directives and memorandums and identify the impact on NFS programming. VISN Program Coordinators serve as a consultant to facility NFS leadership in matters of NFS operations. They analyze and evaluate program data, identifying VISN wide trends and training needs to enhance the quality of service. VISN Program Coordinators ensure facility NFS leadership analyzes data and reports, establish action plans; and assist facilities with addressing barriers. They ensure facility implementation and monitor facility compliance with clinical practice guidelines and standards, working with sites to establish corrective actions. VISN Program Coordinators provide oversight to and direct contracts involving NFS across the VISN. VISN Dietitian Program Coordinators may supervise up to two employees. Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: In addition to the experience above, the candidate must demonstrate the following KSAs and demonstrate the potential to acquire the assignment-specific KSAs: Skill in providing program-specific leadership through guidance, direction, technical advice and staff development. Skill in program administration to establish and modify program goals and objectives, coordinate activities, evaluate accomplishments and solve problems. Skill in interpreting information from complex sources to improve and sustain outcomes. Skill in leading a diverse group of professionals to facilitate collaboration and organizational development. Ability to lead efforts in business administration practices such as budget planning, contracting, food and supply purchasing to successfully operate a food service program. Physical Requirements: Must be in overall good health, able to sit at a desk for prolonged periods of time while working on a computer, engage in light to moderate physical activity which includes sitting, walking, bending, and carrying supplies.
