The VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System is recruiting for an afternoon shift Electrical Worker. The Electrical Worker will function in Engineering Service.
Duties
Installing or repairing electrical systems incident to the construction or maintenance of family housing units, buildings, quarters, offices or shops.
Receiving written instructions, oral instructions and writing diagrams to complete the repair or installation, layout, and placement.
Using written or oral instructions to determine the placement of circuitry, fixtures, controls, parts and equipment needed.
Removing, replacing, tightening, splicing and soldering parts and equipment installed.
Locating defective wiring, controls, equipment and fixtures.
Locating defective parts thought visual observation or through use of test equipment.
Locating broken, worn, damaged, or poorly operating wiring, fixtures, controls and equipment.
Using a small variety of test equipment, such as test lamps, voltage testers, ammeters and polarity testers.
Completing needed repairs to installed systems and rearranging hook up items such as outlets, switches, light fixtures, regulators and circuit breakers.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 3:00 pm to 11:30 pm

Physical Requirements: Make repairs and installations from ladders, scaffolding, platforms, and other hard to reach places. This requires standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lift and carry tools, equipment, and parts weighing up to 20 pounds and less often, up to 40 pounds. Occasionally, they lift or move with assistance moderately heavy objects weighing more than 40 pounds. Work is performed both inside and outside. Sometimes required to make repairs and installations in bad weather; in work areas that are noisy, dirty, dusty, and greasy; on scaffolding or cranes at heights of 30 or more feet; and in close quarters such as manholes, or attics. Occasionally exposed to the possibility of injury from falling, electrical shock, burns, and rotary device, such as electrical motors. They are frequently exposed to the possibility of cuts and bruises. Applicant must posses ability to distinguish basic colors.
