The Laundry Worker WG-7304-2 has a total of five vacancies: two vacancies at the Audie L Murphy Campus {ALMC) at San Antonio, TX and two vacancies at Kerville, TX Campus location. And one vacancy at Northwest Health Care Clinic in San Antonio, TX location.

Duties

Major Duties: Incumbent must practice Universal Precautions and wear items of protective clothing during performance of some tasks. Accomplish work assignments using proper safety and infection control procedures. Able to read signs and other instructions. Must have the hand and eye coordination, hand dexterity skills. Unloading soiled linen carts, dumping soiled linen out of bags onto a conveyor system, sorting and classifying soiled linen, operating spreader/feeder and flat work ironer. Shakes out articles of wet and dry linens checking for damaged, stained, surgical tape, and other foreign debris. Performs a sequence of various tasks which involves the processing of patients personal clothing, and employee uniforms, placing in prescribed name or number sequence, inspecting and hanging the articles in prescribed manner for shipment, maintaining files, textile records to ensure proper distribution and documentation. Fill laundry transport carts with established linen levels for shipment to other facilities. Incumbent is responsible for daily cleaning of the laundry equipment and maintaining a clean safe work environment. Skills in receiving linen orders, recording, and filling of linen orders. Producing a specified amount of work in the TCPF in a repetitious fashion. Incumbent must know simple mathematics and have skills in receiving linen orders, recording, and filling of linen orders. Rotates through a variety of work sites in the Textile Care Processing Facility (TCPF) to meet workload demands. Responsible for maintaining clear isle ways, and performing tasks in a safe and efficient manner. Feeds damp and dry linen items into spreader/feeder, or by hand directly into ironer. Work Schedule : Monday - Friday, 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM Position Description Title/PD#: Laundry Worker/PD02430A and PD02408A Physical Requirements: Heavy Lifting (45 pounds and over), Moderate carrying, 15-44 pounds, Straight pulling (6 hours), pulling (6 hours), Reaching above shoulder, Use of fingers, Both hands required, Walking (6 hours), Standing (6 hours), Kneeling (1 hours), Repeated bending (8 hours), Both legs required, Ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously, Specific visual requirement (specify) 20/40 binocular, Both eyes required, Ability to distinguish basic colors, Ability to distinguish shades of colors, Hearing (aid may be permitted). Incentives for those deemed highly qualified: This occupation is being considered for a Veterans Health Administration enterprise-wide Critical Skills Incentive (CSI). Candidates may be eligible for a lump sum CSI. The amount of lump sum CSI is determined based on appointment date and may be pro-rated as determined by the end date of the CSI. Eligible candidates will be required to sign a service agreement agreeing to an obligated service period and failure to complete the obligated service period may result in a debt for the unearned portion of the CSI.
