This position is located with Bonneville Power Administration in the Systems Administration organization (JNPS) of the Platform Services (JNP) organization of Enterprise Technology Operations Services (JN), Information Technology (J), Bonneville Power Administration (BPA).
A successful candidate in the IT SPECIALIST(SYSADMIN/DATAMGT) position will serve as an IT specialist performing duties associated with System Administration, Data Management and Systems Analysis specialty areas.
Duties
Perform a variety of work involving planning and coordinating the installation, testing, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of hardware and software systems.
Plan and conduct simulations to determine capacity requirements and recommend hardware/software replacements or upgrades to meet current and future requirements.
Develop and implements migration strategies. Plans for continuity of operations during the deployment of new server technology.
Serve as a system expert in the area of data management and data architecture.
Provide guidance for the application of data modeling practices to the development of data management applications.
Diagnose and resolves the most complex data management problems and issues.

Qualifications
BASIC REQUIREMENT: Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate.
For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. The employing agency is responsible for identifying the specific level of proficiency required for each competency at each grade level based on the requirements of the position being filled.

To meet this requirement you must demonstrate proficiency in each of the four competencies listed above as follows:

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level [enter grade] in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as:
1) Providing direction and leadership in the planning, deployment, and administration of database systems such as Oracle Exadata platforms; 2) testing, troubleshooting, and scripting using scripting language such as Perl, UNIX Shell Script, PL/SQL, etc., 3) ensuring data protection, and disaster recovery such as Oracle Maximum Availability Architecture (MAA) solutions; 4) performance tuning of database systems.
