This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), United States Coast Guard (USCG) Headquarters, Commandant (CG-08), National Pollution Funds Center, Legal Division (CL), in Washington, D.C.
Duties
As a General Attorney-Advisor you will serve as a legal subject matter expert and guidance to staff members of the Center and associated field units. You are responsible for evaluating claims by and against Oil Spill Liability Trust Fund and providing litigation support to the Department of Justice.

Qualifications
All Candidates must possess a J.D. or LL.B degree from an accredited law school;ANDMust be a member in good standing of the appropriate licensing authority of any state, territory of the United States, Commonwealth of Puerto Rico or District of Columbia bar.
AND
To qualify for the GS-14 level position, you must have successfully completed at least one full year of professional legal experience as a practicing attorney equivalent to the GS-13 level in the Federal service as reflected in the nature and complexity of casework and legal issues for which responsible, the level of responsibility exercised, and the degree to which such experience equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform the duties of this position. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule, C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.Note: Only education and experience acquired before the filing deadline will be considered.
