Requirements

- This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
- Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
- Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
- Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
- Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
- May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.

Qualifications
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
This position requires military membership in the Puerto Rico Army National Guard (PRARNG). If you are not a military member of the PRARNG (i.e., Airman, civilian, active-duty Soldier, prior service, guard member from another state, reservist, IRR, State Guard, etc.), you must contact the Recruiting and Retention (R&R) Office at (787) 289-1400 extension 2015 or 2008 and request the PRARNG Military Basic Requirements (MBR) Certification. If the MBR certification is not submitted, or you do not meet the requirements to be a member of the PRARNG, your application will not be screened.
AREA OF CONSIDERATION:

DUTIES:
As an AIRCRAFT MECHANIC (D1063000), WU-8852-12, you will be responsible for managing the operational readiness of one or more aircraft, and proficiency training of supported aviation unit personnel. Responsibilities include detailed technical oversight of individual aircraft's level of mission capabilities and projection of maintenance requirements to maintain individual aircraft operational readiness.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
It is required to climb, stand, stoop, bend, stretch and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts parts and equipment weighing up to 20 pounds. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing over 50 pounds.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed inside and outside in inclement weather, on icy or slippery ramps, aircraft surfaces and work stands, and in temperature and humidity extremes and is subject to the danger from exposure to an environment of toxic fumes, high pressure air and fluids, fast actuating metal aircraft surfaces, such as rotor heads, landing gear, explosive munitions, weapons, engine noise, heat, blast, intake suction, fast moving main gear box devices, rotating shafts, cartridge actuating devices, electrical voltage, fire and explosion caused by aircraft fuels, solvents, lubricants, paints and dusts, sharp edges, confined spaces.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE:
Experience or training which demonstrates that the candidate has sufficient skill and knowledge performing aircraft mechanic duties such as removing and replacing aircraft parts, accessories, and components, and to make adjustments and settings according to established specifications. Must possess skills in the use of hand tools and test equipment.
SPECIALIZED EEXPERIENCE:
Applicant must possess more than THIRTY-SIX (36) months of specialized experience and/or appropriate training performing or supervising duties such as troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, servicing, inspecting, and modifying aircraft, aircraft installed equipment and related ground support equipment;manages, monitors or performs overall maintenance on military aircraft; performing work in complex conditions under time and/or mission constraints; performing damage assessments and repairs in assigned aircraft; expediting aircraft operations; identifying and advising on requirements for airframe; reporting and maintaining current aircraft status; controlling and performing work maintenance services assignments; coordinating maintenance requirements to aircraft; observing and inspecting performance of other workers work; analyzing specifications and operating characteristics of aircraft and their components; providing technical guidance and assistance to flight crews; planning developing and conducting proficiency training.
Education
SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
Successful completion of aviation technology and/or a federal aviation airframe and power plant license, in an accredited college or university, (30 semester's hours or 20 classroom hours of instruction per week) for 3 months of specialized experience. Courses must be directly related to the work of the position. Copy of official/student transcripts/license must be included in order to receive credit for education. Unofficial transcripts from internet or with alterations will not be considered. To receive credit for education the information must be included in the education section of the Resume.
