About the Position: Serves as the Training Manager within the Department of Operational Medicine (DoOM), supporting and advising on all teaching Programs from the Department HQ, located at Fort Sam Houston, Texas.

Duties

Conducting detailed analyses of complex functions including doctrinal and training programs. Using knowledge and skill in the Physician Assistant field evaluates program operational effectiveness, policies, and regulatory compliance. Provides clinical currency and relevant combat casualty care expertise using formal education and training as a Physician Assistant in developing, implementing new and revised policies, procedures, methods, and techniques. Provides civilian human resources expertise to Department supervisors of civilian personnel and supervises several civilians within the Department who support academic functions. Identifies developmental and training needs of employees and provides or arranges for needed development or training; and finds ways to improve production or increase the quality of work produced. Participates in conferences, meetings, or presentations involving manpower and equipment problems or other issues of considerable importance as directed by the branch chief.

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

• This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one-year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.

Planning and directing the administrative and technical work of a teaching element in a large training center and providing oversight and guidance to all Department of Operational Medicine (DoOM) personnel with respect to the TRADOC Academic Curriculum Design Process and participate in all Quality Assurance Office academic activities involving the DoOM. Experience with Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee as an investigator for animal use protocols that support trauma training.
