This position is located within a National Forest. The primary purpose of this position is to perform custodial services, grounds maintenance, and other general facility related support.
Duties
Working alone or as a member of a crew, performs a full range of custodial duties in common work areas, hallways, building entrance areas, office spaces, lab spaces, conference rooms, warehouse areas, restrooms, etc.
In accordance with an established work schedule, performs tasks such as what building is to be cleaned and on what days the incumbent will be required to sweep, vacuum, mop, strip, scrub, wax and polish floors with appropriate powered equipment.
Removes stains from a variety of surfaces such as carpeting, vinyl title, epoxy floor, and fixtures by use of approved chemicals and cleaning solutions.
Cleans, disinfects, and deodorizes lavatories, urinals, and toilet bowls.
Replaces supplies as required. Keeps a stock of cleaning materials, restroom supplies, and equipment needed and informs supervisor when more materials are needed and when equipment is in need of repair.
Adjusts, oils, and changes buffers, brushes, rollers, and other attachments on machines used.
Uses ladders and scaffolds when necessary to replace ceiling fixtures, light bulbs/tubes throughout buildings ensuring items are turned-in according to environmental regulations.
Responsible for ensuring recycling items are properly discarded in appropriate bins and when required, prepares bins for pick-up by contracted staff.
May perform grounds maintenance and landscaping duties such as mowing, edging, collection of leaves, mulching beds, and pruning.
Cleans and maintains grounds maintenance/landscaping power tools and equipment.
Notes the condition of building and reports to supervisor any facility related issues or other conditions requiring maintenance.
Requirements
- You must be a US Citizen or US National.
- Males born after 12/31/1959 must be Selective Service registered or exempt.
