This position is located in the Office of Science and Technology Resources (OSTR), Office of the Director (OD), Center for Cancer Research (CCR), National Cancer Institute (NCI).
Duties
Provide supervision, oversight, and direction to the staff of the OSTR in ensuring the availability of advanced technologies to further the mission of the CCR.
Exercise direct technical and administrative responsibility for work processes and procedures that vary and/or evolve with the changing computer technology environment.
Plan, develop, organize, and conduct a variety of in-depth analytical studies and scientific evaluations related to scientific operations, procedures, and practices.
Identify scientific priorities and maintain a current knowledge of state-of-the-art technology, emerging trends in research, and pertinent literature.
Develop and communicate core and technology-related resources through creation of web sites and web-accessible databases.
Manage a budget of between $1-2 million dedicated to supporting access to advanced technologies available through CCR/NCI Cores and research services offered by biotechnology companies through the Supplemental Technology Award Review System (STARS).
Work closely with CCR Principal Investigators (PIs) to identify and access technologies either within or outside the NCI Intramural Research Program.
Represent CCR interests and coordinates with the Technology Transfer Center (TTC) in the negotiation of transactional agreements between CCR and outside parties, including universities, pharmaceutical, and biotechnology companies.

Qualifications
Educational Requirement:
In order to qualify for a Supervisory Research Technology Advisor, GS-0601 position, you must have successfully completed a Bachelor's degree or graduate/higher level degree with major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
In addition to the Basic Qualification, you must meet the following: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: managing the development of scientific and technology resources to support biomedical research programs; manage programs, projects, and resources for science and technology development activities; establishing partnerships and collaborations for the development of advanced technologies; managing studies and evaluations to assess and adapt emerging technologies to improve the effectiveness, efficiency, and quality of scientific programs and operations; and providing direction to other staff.
