You will serve as a TRANSPORTATION SPECIALIST in the PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT of NAVFAC SOUTHWEST.

Duties

You will responsible for developing and carrying out programs for acquisitions, assignments, and utilization of Civilian Engineering Support Equipment. You will investigate, analyze, and determine the most efficient use of present and projected inventory. You will oversee the coordination of outside vendors for station and GSA vendors. You will be in charge of the transportation repair shop's parts and supplies inventory. You will have full oversight of the transportation dispatch operations. You will assign equipment, set deadlines and priorities, and specific stands of quantity and quality required You will utilize MAXIMO and Microsoft Office Suite(i.e. Excel, Word, etc.)

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Planning and scheduling preventative maintenance, repairs, overhauls, modifications and performance testing of transportation equipment; 2) Initiating and maintaining computerized technical reports and records required by the local command; 3) Investigating, analyzing, and determining the most efficient use of present and projected inventory; and 4) Assigning equipment, setting deadlines and priorities, and specific standards of quantity and quality required. Education

The following graduate education may be substituted for specialized experience:
  • A master's degree or an equivalent graduate degree in accounting, business administration, business or commercial law, commerce, economics, engineering, finance, industrial management, statistics, traffic management, transportation, motor mechanics, nautical science, marine affairs, marine engineering, marine transportation, or other fields related to the position OR
  • 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR
  • LL.B. or J.D., if related
  • A combination of education and experience as described above that equates to one year of experience. The percentage of the required education plus the percentage of the required experience must equal one hundred percent.
